A Prosthesis is a device which is manufactured specifically for a patient who has undergone an amputation.  Prostheses are manufactured by a Prosthetist. These are extremely individualistic and specialised devices which are designed according to a patients shape, need and affordability.

There are a number of different levels of amputation and therefore types of prostheses.  Prosthetic sockets are made according to the size and shape of the residual limb or amputation stump.  The componentry viz. suspension, knee, ankle and foot are selected in consultation with the patient.
